Pep Guardiola says Kevin De Bruyne would make an all-time best XI of players he’s coached.

The boss has enjoyed a distinguished 12-year management career that has seen him win 29 trophies and coach some of the finest players of this generation.

His time at Barcelona saw him work with Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, while at Bayern Munich he oversaw the development of Xabi Alonso, Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez, to name a few.

But the boss says De Bruyne would be an easy choice if he had to choose a best XI.

“He would be there, yeah,” says Guardiola. “I was a lucky person being in Barcelona, Bayern Munich and here, I train incredible players.

But if you ask who is best keeper, I could not answer you because it wouldn’t be respectful for another ‘keeper if I choose Victor Valdes, [Manuel] Neuer, or Eddie with what he is doing right now - I could not say.

“But Kevin of course. It’s not necessary to be a smart guy, a wise guy – every person in world football knows Kevin will be there.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola has revealed Oleksandr Zinchenko will miss Saturday’s Manchester Derby at Old Trafford.

City go into the game in fine form, having lost just once in our last 15 matches across all competitions.

He joins Eric Garcia on the sidelines – but everyone else is available for selection.

Asked who is out, the boss replied: “Eric and Zinchenko”.
