We now turn our attention to the Champions League quarter-final second leg with Bayern Munich and our FA Cup semi-final against Sheffield United before returning to league action against our title rivals on 26 April.
Ahead of that difficult run of fixtures, Guardiola has stressed that his side must be almost perfect if we are to win a fifth Premier League trophy in six seasons.
“We have to win, win and win,” he said, speaking after the Leicester victory.
“Arsenal have done incredibly well this season and I don’t think they are going to drop many points and what we have to do is be there.
“It was important for us to win today to arrive in the final we have against them in our next Premier League game.”
The match was sandwiched between the two legs of the last eight clash with the German giants.
After the high of a 3-0 win over Bayern at the Etihad earlier this week and a trip to Munich to come on Wednesday, Guardiola was happy with how his team performed early on against Leicester.
However, he did concede that making all five substitutions in the second half left his side vulnerable to a comeback.
“In general we played really good,” he said.
“Especially after a UCL game and with another UCL game next week - we started really, really well.
“Often after a game like Bayern, there is rotation but in my experience in previous seasons, if you rotate a lot of the team, the levels drop a lot.
“We made two or three changes. After we conceded, we struggled a lot - always when there is a lot of substitutions at the same time we struggle.
“We have to do it better because if Leicester scored another goal, I don’t know what might have happened - football is unpredictable. But the way we played in general, I am really satisfied.”
The manager was full of praise for Stones, who was the unlikely opening scorer with a sweet strike from 20 yards.
The England international reverted back to his more familiar centre-back position today after impressing in a hybrid role combining right-back and midfield duties in recent weeks.
Asked about his No.5’s performance, Guardiola said: “Today he played as a defender. He played with three in the back, with Kyle wide on the right.”
“He is intelligent, a top class player who can play in many positions.”
