Guardiola, who turned 51 earlier this week, has been in charge at the Etihad Stadium for five and a half years and his current contract ends in the summer of 2023.
The Catalan admits the need for results means he cannot afford to think too far into the future, but reiterated that he is happy at City, a place where he feels supported and enjoys working with players and staff alike.
“I am not thinking about that,” he said when asked if he had considered his future coaching plans at his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s trip to Southampton.
“I am not a guy to think much in the future when I have the contract I have.
“I am thinking about Southampton, I am not good enough to think far away about my future because my future always depends on results. That’s why I am not concerned [about the future] for any second.
“I feel protected here. I feel good, I feel comfortable, they gave me everything. I like to work with these players. Hopefully they like to work with us.
“That’s all. Southampton, rest a little bit and continue. At the end of the season we will see what happens.”
Guardiola has built excellent relationships with Club personnel during his hugely successful spell at the Etihad, during which he has won 10 domestic trophies to establish City as the dominant team in English football.
He highlighted the importance of Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, CEO Ferran Soriano and Director of Football Txiki Begiristain when he signed a new two-year contract in November 2020.
And, when he comes to consider the next stage of his career, the City boss is certain he will consult his colleagues, just as he has done in the past.
“The decision will be taken with the Club,” he added.
“They gave me everything so I cannot betray them, or have them feel I had done something wrong to them. It would not be nice from my side.
“Together we have made decisions in the past, to extend the contract two times and it will be the same now. It depends how they feel about me and how I feel with the Club.
“Honestly, I never think what is going to happen far away. In football, the end of the season is far away so now it is just Southampton.”
