City face three games in three different competitions in the space of seven days, starting with Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday at 15:00 (UK).
The boss says the squad have worked incredibly hard this season to put ourselves in with a chance of silverware and that they won’t take any game lightly with no room to err in any competition.
“We know what we have to do, we have done it,” Guardiola said in his press conference.
“People say we have done it so we will win - no it’s not about that. But we have done it, the players will be ready, we know what we are playing for.
“We know why this has been so tough this season for many reasons - one of the toughest we have faced, we know internally how it difficult it has been and we were there.
“We know the players will be ready, I have no doubts about that.”
CITY V LUTON TOWN | MATCH PREVIEW
With such a quick turn around of matches, keeping the squad fresh is important.
Guardiola said training is focused on small sessions and that energy is saved for matchday.
“Don’t train, don’t train, don’t train, massage, water, good food, good rest, some videos, rest, rest and rest,” he added.
“Energy on the day of the game, tomorrow at 3pm. Otherwise people will get injured.
“Just concepts [in training]. What we do, what they have to do, how we defend and how we attack. A lot of smiles, good conversations in the massage rooms, that’s all.”
Mental fatigue is another layer the squad has to deal with and Guardiola says they need to be able to get away from the focus of football.
“Player’s fatigue is normal,” he said. “A lot of games and lots of minutes for national teams and travel but it is the last part of the season - one month and a half more or less. We have fought a lot to be here and everything is here.
“Switch off. They don’t see me. I don’t see them, a lot of time at home. Go through the gameplan and be ready for tomorrow.
“We are used to this. The last five or six seasons it happened every year. We know if we lose tomorrow, ciao ciao. So we have to win. The player know it it.
“Everybody supports each other and we stick together. And then we go.”
