Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are entering a critical point in the season as we aim to consolidate our position at the top of the Premier League table.

City host Wolves on Tuesday, with Manchester United and Southampton to follow at the Etihad Stadium, before a trip to Fulham on Saturday 13 March and Guardiola believes it is a crucial period in our bid to lift the title.

The Catalan says victory in all four games would represent a significant step forward as he called for his players to forget about our remarkable 20 match winning streak and focus on what is in front of us.

“We don’t want to stop,” he said when asked about our run of victories ahead of the Wolves fixture.

“We know how important this 10 days is with Wolves, United and Southampton before travelling to Fulham. If we are able to do what we want to do, we will make an incredible step, absolutely.

“I want to see the team focusing on the job we have to do. I said many times lately, we have two ways to view what is happening.

“We see what we have done and just reflect on that or keep doing things and get to take three more points through our game and not just see what we have done so far.”

Guardiola reported no new injury concerns ahead of Wolves’ visit to the Etihad.

Nathan Ake is the only player who’ll miss out as he continues to recover from a muscular problem which has sidelined him for the last two months.

City won 3-1 at Molineux on the opening day of our campaign, but were defeated home and away by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side last season and Guardiola is expecting his players will have to be prepared to grind out a win like we did against West Ham at the weekend.

“Everyone is fine,” he added. “Except Nathan, the rest of the players are fine.

“The history against them shows us how tough it has been and tomorrow it will be.

“We know exactly the type of game we have to play and to be so intense but at the same time be calm because they play with ambition and patience to punish you.

“We have to be so clever because the last years have been tough, with the quality of players they have. This year it will be no exception.”
