Pep Guardiola says City are heading into Sunday’s Manchester Derby in winning form.

Our 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday saw us move into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup just three days after winning our third-straight Carabao Cup.

It is part of a five-match winning run since we returned from the winter break – and Guardiola says it’s ideal preparation for a game at Old Trafford.

“It’s better to go there winning games,” he said. “Better to go there in the FA Cup rather than out.

“Tomorrow we will watch United v Derby and see what they have done in the last games, then we will go there to try and play well and try to win.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola has hinted Phil Foden could play a part in Sunday’s game.

The 19-year-old delivered a man-of-the-match display at Wembley last weekend as we secured the Carabao Cup success, but then sat out our FA Cup victory at Hillsborough.

Guardiola says the midfielder must make sure he is ready to be called upon at any time.

“We were playing good [against Sheffield Wednesday],” he said. “When we are good and 1-0 I don’t wanna change much.

“But he’s ready and he has to be ready.

“Next games he is going to play.”
