We take on Thomas Frank’s men tomorrow, with a 12:30 (UK) kick-off for TNT Sports coverage.
As Spurs arrive at the Etihad for our opening home game of this new campaign, they’ll draw confidence from their 4-0 defeat of the Blues last time out.
City v Spurs | Pre-match analysis
But the boss insists it’s a fresh start for his men tomorrow, especially as it follows hot on the heels of a magnificent Molineux masterclass as we defeated Wolves on the first day of this season.
“It’s just another opportunity, revenge makes no sense,” he told media at his pre-match press conference.
“Spurs always have been a tough opponent for us but it is a completely new season and what happened in the past is in the past.
“In that moment, I remember it was after international break and already we came from two or three bad results and then the dynamic started to go not good.
“It’s new season, new vibes and the game will be again hopefully last season the first 15 and 20 minutes that we create a lot and go comfortable winning after because Spurs have always been a good team with good players.
“I like a lot of things I am seeing on a daily basis in training and the behaviours, I like it.”
Saturday’s game will be the first time fans will see new assistant head coach Pepijn Lijnders.
The former Liverpool No.2 joined the Blues this summer and he’s made a great impression at the CFA with players and staff, including the boss.
“Really pleased working with him and in the past with Enzo [Maresca], Mikel [Arteta], Juanma [Lillo], Rodolfo [Borrell] and Dome[nec Torrent],” he added.
“I’ve been so lucky to have incredible people around me to teach me a lot, inspire and pass knowledge and vision throughout the day.
“Pep is no different, incredible knowledge, Kolo and James too, we are really pleased.
“I say thanks to join us.”
