Ilkay Gundogan put City ahead in the fifth minute but the hosts fought back, eventually taking a 3-1 lead early in the second half to the delight of a raucous crowd at St. James’ Park.
However, we responded with strikes from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva to earn a point.
Reflecting on the spirited fight back, Guardiola was proud of his team.
“It’s really good for us to live these kinds of experiences,” he said.
“I told them at half-time that we need to live this. We were 2-1 down, let’s see how we are as a team.
“The second half started well but we conceded a brilliant goal. We kick off after the third, we attacked and we showed that we were there.
“We score two more goals and in general we create a lot of chances, one-on-ones against Pope. England has an incredible goalkeeper there.
“We have to live these situations, that why the Premier League is so difficult. Everyone is going to drop points and we’ve dropped the first two but considering how we behaved when we were 3-1 down to get to 3-3.
“We were able to score goals in a few minutes, just like happened against Aston Villa.”
Guardiola also reserved special praise for Eddie Howe, his opposite number in the Newcastle dugout.
“He is one of the top managers. He took over in difficult circumstances. The team you see is growing. They want to have a leading role in games.
“They have everything, they have pace, they have quality. It is a difficult place to come.”
Meanwhile the boss also provided an update on Nathan Ake, with the central defender having to be substituted early on through injury.
Ake was forced off at St James’ Park after just 20 minutes, with Ruben Dias coming on in his place.
And Pep confirmed the nature of the problem afterwards.
“I think it’s (his) groin,” the City boss revealed. “If he’s out it’s because he’s injured. Otherwise he would be there.”
And with the City squad flying directly out to Barcelona after Sunday’s match ahead of a midweek charity fundraiser at the Camp Nou, the boss confirmed that the Dutch international would play no part in Wednesday’s game.
“Absolutely not (when asked if will Ake play against Barcelona),” the City boss added.
