City manager Pep Guardiola is on the three-man shortlist for the prestigious 2022 Best FIFA Men's Coach award.

The accolade recognises exceptional coaching performances in the men’s game covering the period from August 8, 2021 to December 18, 2022.

Guardiola led City to a remarkable fourth Premier League title in five years capped by a pulsating finale to the 2021/22 campaign when we fought back from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 in a dramatic last match of the season.

Once again, City earned widespread plaudits for the eye-catching manner of our latest title success, with the Club scoring 99 goals across the campaign and again producing a blend of bewitching, attacking football

The Catalan also led City through to the semi-finals of the Champions League before we suffered an agonising extra time second leg  exit to Real Madrid.

Having being part of an initial five-man shortlist, Pep is now one of three finalists to have been selected by an international jury comprising men’s national team coaches, men’s national team captains, football journalists and fans who voted on FIFA’s official website.

Also contesting the award is Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who guided the Spanish giants to a Champions League and La Liga double during the 2021/22 campaign as well as lifting the Supercopa de Espana alongside the 2022 UEFA Super Cup.

Completing the trio of nominees is Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni, who helped lead the South American nation to World Cup glory at the 2022 showpiece in Qatar.

From the initial five-person shortlist, each voter made their first, second and third choices for the prize.

Points were given to nominees depending on where they were placed (five points for first, three for second and one for third).

Selections from the four voting groups – coaches, captains, journalists, and fans – each counted for 25 per cent of the total vote.

The Best FIFA Men’s Coach Award will be presented to the individual with the most points cast.

The winner will be announced at a Paris ceremony on 27 February 2023.

Everyone at City wishes Pep the best of luck ahead of the awards ceremony.
