Pep Guardiola says he's still without Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland as well as John Stones for this weekend's match with Sheffield United.

De Bruyne has been absent with a hamstring injury since the first game of the campaign.

Doku hasn’t played since the 3-3 draw with Spurs at the start of this month while Haaland last featured in the defeat at Aston Villa on 6 December.

After a stop-start season due to injury, Stones played in the midweek win at Everton but was substituted before half-time and is now unavailable.

“Nothing has changed from the last games,” said Guardiola when asked for an update on player availability.

“The same are injured plus John Stones.”

Sheffield United are bottom of the Premier League ahead of this one, having picked up nine points from their 19 games so far.

However, the boss knows not to expect an easy ride against Chris Wilder’s side.

City required a late strike from Rodrigo to claim all three points in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane back in August.

After a run of indifferent form in the Premier League before last week’s FIFA Club World Cup success in Saudi Arabia, Guardiola is keen for his side to avoid any complacency on Saturday.

“Similar with Everton, long balls, second balls,” he said when reviewing Sheffield United’s style of play.

“Transition, they defend so deep and attack on the transition.

“Don’t make mistakes. A lot of intensity and attack in the right moments.

“My experience against Chris at Sheffield United was really difficult.

“We have problems with them in the past when we won with a little margin

“They were close to win the Villa game. It’ll be so tough like the Crystal Palace game. Long balls to McBurnie and the others.

“The last games at home we couldn’t get the victories. We must try to be focused on what we need to do.”
