Phil Foden says he’s loving life at Manchester City and believes the squad have the hunger to emulate our Treble-winning campaign in 2023/24.

The England international grabbed City’s final goal in a hard-fought 3-1 Champions League Round of 16 first leg triumph over FC Copenhagen on Tuesday evening.

It means Pep Guardiola’s men have a healthy advantage to defend at the Etihad Stadium in March’s return fixture, while we also sit just two points off the Premier League summit with a game in hand.

And with an FA Cup fifth round tie at Luton also on the horizon, City continue to fight on all three fronts in the current campaign.

But despite already tasted success in both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup this season, Foden insists he and his team-mates’ motivation for further success remains as strong as ever.

“It was a question we were asking ourselves at the start of the season as well,” the midfielder explained following our win over Copenhagen.

“We’re showing that we’re still determined and playing the same football as last year and still wanting to win all the games. Hopefully that continues and we don’t drop our level or form.

“We’re focused - we stick by each other and it’s a pleasure to be a part of this team.

“I look around the dressing room and I still see the determination and hunger.”

Foden’s stoppage time strike marked a memorable evening for the 23-year-old, who became the youngest Englishman to make 50 appearances in Europe’s elite competition.

It’s another impressive achievement in a season where our number 47 has taken his game to new levels, with 15 goals and 10 assists already to his name.

Indeed, Foden believes his game has reached new heights in 2023/24, but he’s excited to keep demanding more of both himself and his team-mates in the coming months and years.

He said of his Champions League milestone: “It’s put a smile on my face, it’s a great achievement.

“I look to set myself goals and achievements all the time. I’m really delighted with that.

“I think it’s the most run of games that I’ve played in a City shirt consistently - I’m in good form, scoring consistently and helping the team as much as I can… I want to keep doing that.

“That’s the goal every game. I’d say I’m playing my best football in a City shirt. It obviously helps playing every game - staying consistent.”
