Erling Haaland scored his 13th career goal against RB Leipzig to propel City to a thrilling 3-2 UEFA Champions League victory in Germany.

It was an evenly contested first 30 minutes but Enzo Maresca’s men struck the first blow after 37 minutes, as Nico O’Reilly’s cross towards the six-yard box was turned into his own net by Castello Lukeba, marking the first goal the hosts have conceded at the Red Bull Arena this season.

However, former City defender Martín Demichelis’ side emerged from the half-time interval with attacking intensity and almost levelled through Christoph Baumgartner’s long-range effort, which was superbly tipped around the post by the sprawling Gianluigi Donnarumma.

However, they did level with their next opportunity as Ridle Baku’s cross snuck through the gap at Donnarumma’s near post and found the net.

We regrouped and retook the lead shortly before the hour mark as Iliman Ndiaye’s wonderful curling cross was expertly directed into the net by the head of the perfectly positioned Enzo Fernández.

A pulsating second period took yet another twist just three minutes later, as the lively Antonio Nusa drilled Leipzig back level.

But with just over ten minutes to go, the prolific Haaland slid us back into the lead, adding the finishing touch to Elliot Anderson’s inviting low cross across the box.

And that proved to be enough to claim all three points after a chaotic second-half, meaning we have three wins out of our opening four League Phase fixtures.
