Riyad Mahrez says City’s Champions League semi-final first leg at Paris Saint-Germain is the type of game he dreamt about playing in growing up.

Wednesday night’s eagerly anticipated clash at the Parc des Princes sees Pep Guardiola’s side tackle a star-studded PSG team now overseen by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

It will see City go head to head against a Paris side featuring elite talents such as Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Angel di Maria to name just a few.

A City squad also packed with star quality will travel to the French capital on a high having just lifted the Carabao Cup and also in pole position to regain the Premier League title.

And Mahrez says our quest to try and reach what would be our first-ever Champions League final is one that he can’t wait for.

“When you are a young boy you dream about these stages,” Mahrez asserted at Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.

“You play football for these types of games and stages. I knew when I signed that with this team and manager we would arrive here.

“But you have to show you deserve to be in the final. It is done by showing your personality in the big games and the big moment.

“Now, here we are and we have to step up as always, like we play in the Premier League, like in the Carabao Cup, like in the last game against Aston Villa.”

It’s a clash that has captured Europe’s imagination and beyond with PSG also seeking what would be their first European title.

PSG showed their quality by avenging last season’s final loss to Bayern Munich and knocking out the Germans in the quarter-finals.

But Mahrez insisted that City would travel to the French capital determined to seize the moment in what will be our second Champions League semi-final.

“We’re not here to make up the numbers in the semis. We are here to win, absolutely,” Mahrez asserted.

“We have always been confident in our game. It is true that perhaps we are better this year. We are in good form approaching the end of the season.

“PSG are an absolutely wonderful team. We saw that in the game against Bayern Munich.

“We have our strengths, they have their strengths and we will see tomorrow how it all works out.

“Ultimately, we always want to play our game, showing lots of character and that we are here to win.”
