Riyad Mahrez says the 1-1 Champions League draw with Leipzig ‘isn’t a bad result’ as he gets set for the decisive return leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Mahrez scored the opener for City at the Red Bull Arena on 27 minutes before Josko Gvardiol headed the hosts level on 70 minutes.

Now all eyes are on the deciding fixture at our home ground on Tuesday 14 March, with the winner heading through to the quarter-finals of the competition.

And Mahrez, the focus of City Studios latest documentary - The Riyad Mahrez Story - on CITY+ and Recast, is aiming for progress through.

He said: “I think we played a really good first half.

“We controlled the game. They didn’t have anything.

The Riyad Mahrez Story

“We could have scored one or two goals. We scored and in the second half they were a bit better.

“But it’s the Champions League. Every team is difficult to play against.

“In the second half they had a period where they had the ball.

“They scored this goal but at the end we still had the chances in the second half to kill the game but we didn’t.

“In the end, we draw which isn’t a bad result. Now we have to go to Manchester.

“We have another game to play at home and we have to win.”
