Rodri played the full 90 minutes to help Spain secure a 2-0 UEFA Nations League win over the Czech Republic in their latest encounter.

But there was disappointment for City team-mates Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva in Sunday night’s other Group A2 clash as Portugal were edged out 1-0 away to Switzerland.

Carlos Soler’s 24th minute effort gave Spain the early advantage in Malaga.

And substitute Pablo Sarabia then secured victory for Luis Enrique’s side on 75 minutes with Rodri a commanding presence at the base of midfield as Spain sealed their second win in the group.

Meanwhile, a tight encounter in Geneva was settled by Haris Seferovic’s first minute goal for Switzerland.

Cancelo played the full 90 minutes for Portugal with Bernardo Silva coming on as a second half substitute, but despite a period of late pressure from the visitors, the Swiss held on to that early advantage.

The night’s results mean that Spain currently top the group A2 table with eight points from their four games to date.

Portugal lie second with seven points from four game, the Czech Republic have four points in third place and Switzerland are bottom with three.
