The Spaniard opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, reacting first after Illan Meslier parried a Riyad Mahrez effort into his path.
Erling Haaland added a second-half double, before Pascal Struijk pulled a goal back for the hosts with just over 15 minutes to play.
Rodri was delighted with City’s display to move back into second position in the table, especially after the six-week Premier League break for the World Cup.
“I think we did a very complete game. We started so good, with high rhythm.,” he admitted.
“This team, Leeds, have the highest rhythm in the league so we had to equal that. We created enough chances to have even more than three goals.
“It was important. These goals make a pain in the rivals in the last minute. We deserved to be on top but you have to score, this is football. We have to be focused on scoring goals, that’s most important.
“It’s massive to start with the three points and the feeling to go on a run.
“To achieve the Premier League we need to be on 90 or more points so that’s what we want to do, to win every single game.”
Haaland made history in Yorkshire, becoming the fastest player to reach 20 top-flight goals, reaching the tally after just 14 matches.
However, he wouldn’t have been able to do so without two wonderful Jack Grealish assists and Rodri heaped praise on the duo after a wonderful attacking display.
“I think we demand from him [Grealish] a lot because of the quality he has, we push him until the end, he was great.
“He missed a few chances that he should score but he helped us in the end.
“He’s [Haaland] this kind of player, different class, world class at 22 years old. The gap of improvement is great, he can improve a lot still. If he only scores goals, for me that’s enough!
