The Spain international, arguably playing the best football of his career, was once again an immense presence during the Manchester derby.
Though obviously frustrated with the result, he left Old Trafford feeling nothing but pride and says the result will not define City’s season – only make the players even more determined to bounce back quickly.
“Today more than ever, I am very proud of my teammates – more than ever of this club, the way we want to achieve things, we want to win,” said Rodrigo.
“We feel disappointed – we didn’t deserve the result; we did everything to win, but it is what it is.
“We’re not going to let our heads drop, we played a great game despite the result.
“It’s part of football, we have to look at ourselves and not blame anyone.
“We performed well, we had initiative, the courage, everything, but they made it 1-1 and that goal frustrated us.
“There’s a long way to go. In the end it’s going to give more spice to the Premier League, but it’s only one game so we cannot drop.
“We have experience, we know where we are, we know the team we are. Now it’s building – our way is to work every day and perform well.
“It’s not a big result. Even if we won today nothing is clear and nothing is won.”
