Ruben Dias has revealed that new signing Mateo Kovacic has already praised the team morale within the City squad.

Kovacic joined the Club from Chelsea earlier this summer and reported for training at the CFA last week.

The Croatian made his first appearance in sky blue during Sunday’s 5-3 victory over J1 League champions Yokohama F. Marinos to start our pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.

How do I watch Bayern Munich v City on TV?

Speaking in his press conference ahead of facing Bayern Munich on Wednesday, Dias told media that Kovacic is impressed by the attitude amongst the team.

“Overall we have a very good environment between all of us,” he said.

“Even Mateo has just come in - we had our first conversation with him and he was like, wow this is amazing. How well you all get along.

“He has a lot to know but his first impressions shows what he thinks. People can make jokes but they accept to be made of a joke too.

“That friendly environment between us definitely helps us. But when the time comes definitely we are together.”

Wednesday’s meeting with the Bundesliga champions will be our second and final game in Japan before we move on to Seoul to face Atletico Madrid.

After landing in Tokyo last Thursday, the players have had some time to see its sights.

Dias was full of praise for what he has seen, congratulating the residents of Tokyo for keeping it so clean.

The tour has coincided with a heatwave across Japan but Dias doesn’t believe that has negatively impacted pre-season preparations.

He stated: “The boss keeps us busy but we did have some time to walk around the city. It looks like an amazing city. I could definitely see myself living here.

“The heatwave - especially today we can feel it the most, it’s hot. But we have been dealing with it absolutely fine. It’s hotter than England, that’s for sure, but we can manage it.”
