It is the latest prestigious accolade for the City central defender following a quite magnificent first season at the Club.
Dias, who was also named both Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and Etihad Player of the Season last month, made a huge and instant impact at the Club following his move from Benfica last September.
His commanding displays made the 24-year-old a mainstay in a City team which boasted the best defensive record in the league, helping Pep Guardiola’s side to 15 clean sheets in his 32 games.
In the wake of his move to the Etihad, Dias also emerged as one of the lynchpins of the City squad that regained the Premier League title, as well as winning a fourth successive Carabao Cup and reaching a first-ever Champions League final.

A commanding, decisive figure on the pitch, Dias has also epitomised the collective hunger and desire that has characterised Pep Guardiola’s squad in what proved the most extraordinary of campaigns.
Dias was nominated alongside City colleague Kevin De Bruyne, as well as Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Mason Mount, Mohamed Salah and Thomas Soucek.
Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Ruben on his latest award.
