The French outfit arrive at the Etihad Stadium for Wednesday’s 20:00 (UK) kick-off as two-time reigning European Champions and began their latest defence of the crown with a 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava.
But City have also started the campaign in excellent form under Enzo Maresca and are aiming to extend our winning run to nine matches in all competitions.
Dias didn’t hide away from the size of the challenge the Blues will face, but our captain insists it’s something he and his team-mates are looking forward to.
“It’s a massive game and everyone is excited for it,” he explained in his pre-match press conference.
“It would be a great time to feel ourselves against one of, well, the best team in Europe.
“We’re excited for the challenge. Everyone is. The fans can’t wait to be there, just like us.”
City returned from the international break with a convincing 3-0 victory at Liverpool on Sunday, with second half goals from Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki sealing the win at Anfield.
Historically, it’s been a difficult place for the Blues to go and pick up three points, but Maresca’s men cruised to victory to maintain our position at the top of the Premier League table.
Dias admits it was a special moment for the team and the travelling fans.
He said: “It was great. [We had] amazing support from our fans, they stood behind us and we will fight for them always until the end.
“It was obviously a special feeling to get that win in such a difficult atmosphere.
“And also, because of it being the first game after the international break, which is always a difficult one.”
