City’s summer signing Savinho assisted Brazil’s first goal, whilst Ederson featured for 90 minutes in goal, in their 2-1 win over Chile.

The 20-year-old winger made his senior debut in March and last night’s victory was his eighth appearance for his country.

Brazil dominated play from kick-off with Savinho looking sharp and at the heart of his nation’s attacks and would leave the pitch as their best player of the evening when substituted in the 68th minute.

Before that, Chile took a surprising lead through Eduardo Vargas in the second minute, but Ederson would not be tested again.

Brazil proved to be relentless and their waves of attacks finally paid off on the brink of half-time in their World Cup qualifier.

Savinho lofted the ball into the path of Igor Jesus who nodded home the City winger’s assist from close range.

Despite Brazil enjoying more chances in the second half, it took an 89th-minute strike from Luiz Henrique to win the game for the visitors.

Savinho and Ederson have one more game in the international break and before they return to Manchester for club football. Brazil take on Peru on Wednesday 16 October, with kick-off scheduled for 1:45 (UK).
