Scout offers a unique insight into City Football Group’s (CFG) global network and reveals how talent and potential new signings are identified.
Featuring interviews with City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain, CFG’s Managing Director of Global Football Brian Marwood and a host of scouts, the documentary studies how City operates in different locations around the world.
Coming soon, episode one begins with our scouts in South America, who explain how they tracked Gabriel Jesus and what it was that made him stand out, whilst they also reveal which key attributes they look for in prospective new signings.
Europe is the focus for the second instalment, which highlights the process of scouting top-level players and also explores the growing role of artificial intelligence in talent identification.
Aymeric Laporte’s game is put under the microscope, as those who tracked his progress divulge what made him such an attractive prospect for Pep Guardiola’s squad.
The final two episodes will be released at a later date, the first of which includes an exclusive interview with City and United States goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who gives his take on what it’s like to be scouted by CFG.
We also hear from Managing Director of Manchester City Women Gavin Makel on the strength of women’s soccer in the US following the arrival of Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle this summer.
The final episode introduces the scouts responsible for China, India and the rest of the world, who reveal how City finds talent in these huge countries where football’s popularity continues to grow.
These in-market experts share their thoughts on if and when these territories will start producing elite level talent on a regular basis.
