Antoine Semenyo revealed he is loving every second at City following his second goal for the Club in our 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg success over Newcastle United.

Following his debut goal in our FA Cup victory over Exeter City, Semenyo followed up with his first away goal for the Blues, tapping in from close-range after 53 minutes.

The electric winger was denied a brace later on after his clever flick found the net, but a lengthy VAR review disallowed the goal for Erling Haaland being in an offside position.

Deep into stoppage time, Rayan Cherki finished off a slick move to double our advantage ahead of next month’s second leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Semenyo, who only signed for City last Friday, spoke about his joy after making a dream start at the Club.

“The whole environment here is perfect,” he said in an interview after the game. “Everyone is confident and wanting to achieve the best.

“I’ve just come into that and they’ve helped me with my confidence and they’ve made me feel welcome.

“It’s been a lot, definitely been a lot, but I’m enjoying it so far, I’m definitely picking things up very quickly. I’m enjoying it.

“I’m taking the confidence from Bournemouth to here. I’m playing with a smile on my face. I’m enjoying every moment.”

The Magpies put up a fight at St James’ Park and had three great chances to get on the scoresheet, but Bruno Guimaraes struck the post, whilst Yoane Wissa saw a looping header superbly saved by James Trafford.

“It was a tough game today,” continued Semenyo. “We just had to stick in there, we knew we would get chances.

“I was just in the right area to tap it in and we’re victorious so we’re happy.”
