Sergio Gomez has chosen to wear the No.21 shirt at Manchester City.

The 21-year-old left-back became the Club’s fifth signing of the summer when he penned a four-year deal which keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the 2025/26 season.

A Spanish Under-21 international, Gomez wore No.17 at previous side Anderlecht, but has opted for the No.21 shirt at City, which has been vacant since Ferran Torres’ departure in December 2021.

He is the third Spaniard in succession to wear the No.21 jersey, with David Silva having done so prior to Torres during his legendary 10-year period at the Etihad.

Dietmar Hamann is the other notable figure from the modern era to wear the shirt, with the German midfielder doing so between 2006 and 2009.
