Pep Guardiola‘s men put on a typically ruthless display in Lisbon, taking a healthy five-goal advantage back to the Etihad Stadium in next month’s last 16 second leg.
Our 5-0 triumph over Sporting saw us record our greatest ever win on the road in the Champions League, while we also became the first side in the competition’s history to lead an away game in the knockout stages by four goals at half-time.
But with attentions now back on our pursuit of domestic glory - beginning with the visit of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening - the players took part in an all-important recovery session in the Portuguese capital.
