Pep Guardiola’s men became only the second side in English football history to win the Treble, with a 1-0 win over Inter confirming the remarkable achievement.
City have won 13 of the last 23 available domestic honours, and five of the last six league titles.
Speaking on Matchday Live, our former defender Howey believes those achievements, plus our exhilarating brand of football, have already cemented our name in history.
“It’s the best team I’ve seen play in the Premier League consistently,” he said.
“I played in some good teams and played against some wonderful ones, but this one is the best.
“When you have a team that plays a brand of football like City do, you want them to win.
“If you’re a fan of football, you want teams that play great football to win games. This is the perfect team for me.”
Reflecting on our victory over Inter, Howey admitted Inter pushed City to our limits in Istanbul.
However, he feels the final result was just rewards for our efforts over the course of the season.
“I thought Inter were excellent in the second half, they were attacking, they caused the lads problems,” he added.
“It ended up being a fantastic second half. They made it massively uncomfortable for us.
“But it was all worth it. I can’t wait to see the scenes of them lifting the trophy, I’m so happy for Pep as well.
“He’s a world class manager that goes down in history. I’m delighted for him, the staff, the lads and the fans.”
