Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Antoine Semenyo will be involved on Saturday in our FA Cup clash with Exeter City.

City face the Grecians in a 15:00 (UK) kick-off at the Etihad in the third round of the world’s oldest cup competition.

And our newest signing, Semenyo, is set for action after arriving from AFC Bournemouth this morning.

Semenyo starred in Bournemouth’s last-gasp 3-2 Premier League victory over Tottenham on Wednesday and scored the late, late winner for the Cherries.

Pep Guardiola says the winger is ready as we look for progress to the next phase of the FA Cup this weekend with the manager yet to decide whether he’ll be in the first XI line-up or on the subs bench.

“He’ll be selected,” said the boss.

“I don’t know if he’ll start but he’ll be selected for sure.”

Guardiola also looked ahead to the clash with Gary Caldwell’s men in a competition City have won seven times in our history with the Catalan himself leading us to two triumphs at Wembley.

The manager stressed he would be showing huge respect for the opposition as he looks for the team to make it through to the fourth round of this season’s edition.

“When I arrived here ten years ago, when we played against teams in lower divisions like League One or Championship it was typical football,” added the boss.

“But now you see the teams, they have the ball, they play really good.

“I saw their games against Huddersfield and Cardiff, the last two games they played recently, it didn’t happen ten years ago.

“We have huge respect and I always believe the best way to respect this competition, the FA Cup, obviously we have respect anyway in the last years but when we play those teams in the lower divisions how you respect them, how you play, defend, press, the many details you have to, do it well.

“That’s the best way to respect Exeter and all the teams we play.”
