Pep Guardiola's City squad were back to work at the City Football Academy on Monday morning ahead of another busy week.

Having claimed all three points in dramatic fashion at Wolves on Sunday, our players took the opportunity earlier today to shake out the exertion of the 2-1 victory and shift attention to our latest Champions League challenge.

Josko Gvardiol and John Stones were the goalscoring heroes at Molineux after Jorgen Strand Larsen’s opener had put Gary O’Neil’s struggling side ahead.

Gvardiol, Stones and Guardiola all elaborated on their elation after the game following the late, late winner that required a VAR check before being allowed to stand.

City’s unbeaten run in the Premier League

But, as we are well aware, football at the highest level is a relentless beast and now we must prepare ourselves to host Sparta Prague on Wednesday night.

After a draw and a victory from our opening two games in the first season of the league phase, another three points here would leave us well positioned.

It is the first time we have come up against Sparta Prague in any competition, while our only previous competitive games against a side from Czechia came in the 2013/14 Champions League when we beat Viktoria Plzen home and away.

With only two training sessions to get ready for the challenge of Lars Friis’ team, we were straight to work.
