City head to Wembley this Saturday for our FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal knowing we are two wins away from another domestic success.
And once the English season is completed, focus turns to the Champions League and the second leg of our last-16 tie against Real Madrid.
If we get past Los Blancos, we then head to Portugal for an 11-day knock-out tournament to see who will be crowned champions of Europe.
City could end the season with a flourish, and Begiristain believes the players are now auditioning to be part of the biggest showpiece matches.
“There’s competition for places and it’s very important,” he said. “Everyone wants to play the big games and the big games are coming.
“We said already the league games will help prepare the semi-final now and then hopefully another final and then the Champions League.
“Everybody is fighting for a place.”

City prepared for Wembley with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth, thanks to a wonderful free-kick from man-of-the-match David Silva and a superb solo effort from Gabriel Jesus.
Silva’s 25-yard free-kick went in off the bar and gave Aaron Ramsdale no chance, while Jesus skipped past two challenges before drilling the ball into the bottom corner.
Begiristain was impressed with the quality of the goals and says it’s disappointing the fans have not been in the stadium due to COVID-19 safety precautions to see Silva’s recent top-quality performances.
“They were two very good individual actions from two top players,” he said during our We’re Not Really Here live matchday show.
“David is now taking the free-kicks and he’s having an unbelievable efficiency, its a shame the people can’t see this from the stands what David is doing in the last games.
“But it’s great to see him scoring.
“And it was a very good action from Gabriel.”
