City’s victory over Galatasaray on Wednesday means we move straight into the Round of 16 of the 2025/26 Champions League.

Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki got the goals in a 2-0 win over the Turkish giants at the Etihad Stadium.

That result left us with 16 points from our eight matches, seeing us finish eighth in the 36-team league phase.

Only the top eight sides move straight into the Round of 16, with sides ninth to 24th set to compete in a play-off round.

Given the structure of Friday’s draw for that play-off, we now know we’ll face one of Benfica, Bodo/Glimt, Inter or Real Madrid in the Round of 16.

We’ll confirm our opponents on Friday 27 February in a draw to be made after the play-off round is completed.

That draw will also map out our potential route to the final in Budapest on 30 May 2026.

The Round of 16 will be played across two legs on the 10/11 and 17/18 March 2026, with City set to play at home in the second leg by virtue of finishing in the top eight of the league phase.

We picked up our 16 points in the league phase with wins over Napoli, Villarreal, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Galatasaray and a draw at Monaco.

City are seeking a second Champions League trophy having won it in 2022/23.
