The slick passing paid off with just under ten minutes until the interval as Ilkay Gundogan slipped through Haaland, who was brought down by Alphonse Areola inside the box.

The 22-year-old picked up the ball and coolly finished into the bottom corner from the penalty spot to claim his first goal for City.

Five minutes after the hour mark, Haaland found the net again, latching onto Kevin de Bruyne‘s pass before slotting in expertly.
