The versatile forward came on as a late substitute in our pre-season clash with Barcelona in front of a sell-out crowd in Orlando.
Our tour of the USA is Heskey’s first experience travelling with the first team.
Having been frustrated by injuries in 2022/23, the 18-year-old stepped up to the plate last season, captaining Ben Wilkinson‘s side as they finished second.
It was a season that gave Heskey the freedom to grow, with his incredible versatility allowed to flourish.
Capable of playing as a nine, in any midfield position or out on the wing, the forward boasts a clinical eye for goal and the vision and movement to match.
From scoring tap-ins in our FA Youth Cup final win over Leeds United in May to comeback-winning braces in Premier League 2, Heskey has continued to perfect his craft in front of goal.
With footballing heritage in his family through his father, Emile, the youngster has also emulated some of Heskey snr.’s celebrations when he has found the back of the net, such as his iconic golf shot.
But when tasked with playing further back, Heskey has shown resilience, game understanding, stamina and impressive on-the-ball technique in countless games when in City’s engine room.
The 2023/24 campaign was undoubtedly Heskey’s best in a City shirt with his most impressive football on show in all six of our FA Youth Cup fixtures en route to the trophy.
Indeed, Heskey scored three goals and assisted another as he ended the season on a high.
And he will be looking to continue his development as he prepares to make the EDS squad for the 2024/25 campaign, once he returns to Manchester following the conclusion of City’s pre-season tour.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Jaden on his debut for the Club!
