Brazil top the group with six points despite their 1-0 defeat to Cameroon while Switzerland earned a 3-2 win over Serbia to seal second place.

With at least a draw necessary to avoid elimination, Breel Embolo equalised for Switzerland just before the break.

Remo Freuler completed the turnaround in Switzerland’s favour a few minutes after the restart before Akanji kept Serbia’s potent strikers at bay for the remainder of the night.

As Group G winners, Brazil will now face South Korea in the Round of 16 at 19:00 UK time on Monday.

Switzerland play Group H victors Portugal at 19:00 on Tuesday.

Earlier today, a Portugal squad including Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva topped Group H despite a 2-1 defeat to South Korea.

Also through to the last 16 are England including City men Phil Foden, Jack Grealish Kalvin Phillips, John Stones and Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake‘s Netherlands, Julian Alvarez‘s Argentina and a Spain squad featuring Aymeric Laporte and Rodrigo.
