Oleks Zinchenko says he and the City squad are so grateful to the Club for its support during the lockdown period.

With football halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, normal life has changed around the world with footballers adjusting to life away from the team environment.

However, although he admits the players are missing football, the versatile Ukrainian asserts the help from the Club has made the transition much easier.

“The support is amazing,” he declared in a City Instagram Live video. “It’s difficult but thankfully, we have unbelievable staff.

“It’s a first time for everyone, this situation.

“Every morning when I wake up, I have messages from the medical team and the doctors about myself and my health.

“We are able to do a lot of exercises and our plans. If I cannot get things here (similar to the food we normally get at the CFA), they send me something which has helped me a lot.

“You have to keep going and do our job as much as we can.

“They have supported us a lot. Thank you for that.”

Asked how he and the team are spending their time, Zinchenko suggested some TV recommendations and explained how the squad are staying connected.

“Normally, I wake up at 10am and do a morning session,” he said. “Then I can chill in the garden with my two dogs or chill with my family, enjoying myself. Normally, we cannot be together all the time.

“I play on the PlayStation – not often but sometimes – and I normally play Counter-Strike on the laptop.

“You can chill with friends and have a laugh. It’s something positive I can find there.

“I’m watching movies too and Netflix – La Casa Da Papel (Money Heist), which is a Spanish series. It’s so cool. And Prison Break.

“We have WhatsApp and Instagram to keep in touch with everyone and once a week, we have an open session where everyone is on together at the same time.

“Someone from Physio or the coaching staff take the session and there, we can laugh and joke with each other so it’s interesting.

“Sometimes, I speak with Ilkay Gundogan.”

Zinchenko also shared a message for the fans during the testing period.

“First of all, I’d like to tell you: ‘Thank you for the support’,” he added.

“In this moment, it’s so difficult for everyone. I know you also miss football a lot but I’m pretty sure we’re going to get back soon.

“I think that when that happens, everyone is going to enjoy the moment, spending a lot of time at the CFA and on the pitch!

“I don’t know how it will be but keep supporting us. We need you.

“Thank you and see you soon on the pitch. We cannot wait until we are back.”
