The Australian international has signed a new two-year contract extension, committing her future to the Club until 2025.
With over a century of appearances for the Matildas to her name, the defender boasts a wealth of experience, and helped City claim the Continental Cup in her maiden campaign.
Still just 28, Kennedy is still approaching her peak years, and feels she’s in the perfect environment to continue her development at the highest level.
“I feel like I have unfinished business here,” she explained.
“I’ve worked hard to get myself into a position where I’ve learned the style here, got a great relationship with all the girls in the team and the staff as well.
“I feel like I have so much more to learn as a player and this is an environment where I can do that, get better every day and be surrounded by great players as well.
“And also grow as a person I think, that’s something that’s important to me and I feel comfortable here in Manchester, so I’m looking forward to continuing that.
“I feel these next couple of years will be my peak and so to be here, somewhere where I’ve started to build, I wouldn’t want to stop that now.
“I’m looking forward to continuing that and hopefully finding good form to become the best player I can be here.”
Kennedy also explained the influence that manager Gareth Taylor has had on her time at the Club so far.
The boss’ system – and City’s on the whole - places emphasis on a defenders’ technical ability and requires them to be heavily involved in our build-up play.
It’s under these circumstances where the Australian, calm and composed in possession and with prior experience as a midfielder, is able to thrive.
Indeed, Kennedy paid tribute to the manager for the trust he has shown in her so far at the Academy Stadium.
She said: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Gaz, he’s always made me feel valued as a player and I definitely feel as though I can learn a lot under him.
“The discussions were always positive and definitely reassured me I‘m making the right decision.
“I can build as a player here and be a key part of this team.”
