Our captain was a key figure at Old Trafford as City earned a second 3-0 victory over Manchester United this season.
A first-half brace from Vivianne Miedema saw City race into a two-goal lead with the number ten dispatching two headers as she closed in on a personal milestone of 100 WSL goals.
There was a chance for City to put the game to bed before the break when Rebecca Knaak headed home, but there was adjudged to be a foul somewhere in the box moments before the centre back powered home an impressive header.
However, a rapid start to the second half saw Andrée Jeglertz’s side earn a commanding 3-0 lead thanks to Kerstin Casparij’s tap-in at the back post, putting the game to bed.
It was a statement win from City, and one that Greenwood admits was a special moment for her and her team-mates.
“There is nothing better than winning a Manchester derby, especially at Old Trafford,” she told the BBC.
“I thought we controlled the game from the first minute, and that was an important conversation we had before the game to control it.
“For us, I think in the past couple of games we haven’t started the second half really well, and at 2-0, no game is done.
“So, we knew we had to come out and start exactly how we did the first half, which I thought we did really well.”
With a lot of talk and praise centred around City’s impressive style of play going forward and devastating speed on the counter-attack, Greenwood was keen to highlight the impact that Andrée Jeglertz has had on the team.
“The mentality side of our game this season has been huge,” she added.
”I think Andrée has come in and done a great job with that, and the best way I can describe it is that everyone feels very comfortable being themselves on and off the pitch.
“He’s a really calm guy, but at the same time he’s really intense on and off the pitch, but he allows you to be yourself.
“His door is always open for anyone to go to and have a conversation with him about anything; he’s really understanding on a human level, and I think that’s massively important, especially with women.”
When asked about what is next for City with just three league games left and an Adobe Women’s FA Cup match against Birmingham City next up, Greenwood gave an honest answer.
She finished: “We’ve got quite a long time until our next game, so it’s important that the girls rest, and then after that it’s the international break.
“So we won’t be going over the top, we’ll keep our feet on the ground and focus on the next one.”
