Andrée Jeglertz says the ‘good habits’ his players are showing will stand City in good stead ahead of what could be an exciting end to the 2025/26 campaign.

The Blues beat AFC Bournemouth 6-0 to book our spot in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round, with a brace apiece from Laura Coombs and Vivianne Miedema adding to goals from Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp.

It was City’s ninth win in a row in all competitions and takes our unbeaten run to 16 matches.

And while Jeglertz admitted the Blues were heavy favourites against our third-tier opponents, he was impressed by the manner of the victory and his players’ attitude to the contest.

“Of course, I’m happy that we won the game and we should’ve gone through, but what I’m probably most proud of is the good habits we’re showing,” our Head Coach said.

“No matter what, we keep on doing the things we should do and those good habits are things we all need to have.

“When we lose the ball we counter press, we break the lines, make the simple things simple and if we’ve scored three, we always try to score the fourth. These good habits are really important for us to have.”

City were full value for the win, with some of our goals the result of impressive, intricate team moves.

Laura Coombs’ first strike in particular saw several players combine before the midfielder clinically dispatched the chance, with Jeglertz pleased to see City create from central areas.

He added: “Of course, we have a gameplan and ideas, we can score by crosses, but we also had one or two goals from central combinations which I’ve been on the players for, we need to be better at that part and we did that today.

“We made changes but the ones coming in aren’t just playing the game, they want to do good and score the next goal.

“They’re giving the team energy, and those habits are so crucial for us. And if we can do it today, we can do it in training and all game. That’s the standard. It’s more important than the result, almost.”
