Andrée Jeglertz says it’ll take time for his players to return to full match sharpness but was impressed by his side’s display against Everton.

Goals from Kerolin and Vivianne Miedema were enough to earn a 2-0 win over the Toffees at the Joie Stadium after a three-week winter break.

It’s our 11th win in a row in the WSL and ensures we remain six points clear at the summit.

And our Head Coach was pleased with how his players saw out the win after an extended period off.

“Overall, it’s a good performance, the players are working hard in defending, creating scoring chances, having patience and never losing belief,” he said.

“Scoring two goals and keeping clean sheet, that says everything.

“We haven’t played a game in three weeks, so it’ll take time for timing and relationships in final third, that’s something that’ll be better every day in the coming weeks.

“So yes, to create that many chances is great.”

City’s next match sees us travel to the south coast to take on Bournemouth in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Blues go into the tie as heavy favourites, but Jeglertz has highlighted the importance that a potential positive result could have on the team.

Indeed, the Swede pointed to Sunday’s showdown as another opportunity to build momentum heading into a busy period of games.

“I think for us, we have a confidence now and every game you play has to be a good opportunity to show that you’re a good team, or a good player.

“Winning games is building the confidence even more and it’s something we’d like to keep on doing.

“Everton are a tricky team to play against, they defend well and are challenging us also in the build-up, but I thought we managed it well.”
