The Blues had seemingly been forced to settle for a point as stoppage time approached, with Lauren Hemp and Bunny Shaw’s efforts cancelled out by two quickfire Liverpool goals between City’s first half strikes.

But Jeglertz’s side continued to press for the winner, and were rewarded when Grace Fisk deflected a cross into her own net in the 90th minute before Hemp sealed the points deep into stoppage time.
For our Head Coach, his side’s refusal to give up on the win is a crucial quality which he believes stands us in good stead across the campaign.
“It was a tough game and I’m not surprised about that,” Jeglertz began.
“All games we play, it’s not like you can look at what the opponent did in the last game, every team we play will do something a little different.
“We can be a bit quicker in identifying and solving that, but there’s something in this group.
“No matter what, we struggled a little bit but scored a lot of scoring chances, they refuse to lose and drop points.
“The mentality in the group is amazing, they never stop believing. There’s a calmness on the field and off it, that means so much for the players.”
Jeglertz was also delighted by the impact City’s substitutes made on proceedings.
Kerstin Casparij, Sam Coffey and Aoba Fujino all made lively cameos for the final 30 minutes after Iman Beney, Laura Blindkilde Brown and Mary Fowler had all made key contributions in the opening hour.
Grace Clinton was also introduced with 15 to play, and it was the latter’s teasing cross that forced Fisk’s own goal.
With a busy fixture schedule looming, the boss is hoping to see similar key contributions from the bench in the coming months.
He added: “That’s what it’s about this year, we will play a lot of games and we need all the players in the squad.
“We have four players coming in today and all of them had a great impact.
“Those who played 60 minutes were great and the others coming in have just brought more fuel and energy into the team.”
