Andrée Jeglertz says City’s Champions League performances are moving in a positive direction.

City’s prolific striker Bunny Shaw thought she has secured the Blues our first League Phase win of 2026/27 from the penalty spot on 85 minutes after the Jamaica international was brought down in the box.

But a Tara Elimbi Gilbert response three minutes later meant City had to settle for a third successive Champions League draw.

It means the Blues have now gone an impressive 10 games unbeaten in all competitions this term.

And with each European game within that run, Jeglertz has seen his team continue to improve, develop and face the challenge of Champions League football head on.

“The performance is what we mostly take from the game today,” responded the Head Coach when asked for his thoughts on the result.

“I think that there was so many good things in this game. We showed what qualities we have as a team, how we’re creating, scoring chances, defending in a very good way.

“So there was definitely a lot of things in this. Of course, you end up with a draw and you concede a goal in the last minutes and that is always a little bit annoying and frustrating.

“But we are building from the performance and we have a game in three days again.

“I think that all the games we have played in Champions League is tough games. We have played the three highest ranked teams that we should face in this.

“Now we have three other teams that we have great opportunity to win and I am pretty sure that we will get the points that we need to qualify for [the knockouts in] spring.”

Another positive Jeglertz can take from the game is the further bolstering of his defensive options following the return of Rebecca Knaak.

In her first start since our FA Cup final win over Brighton in May, the Germany international tallied 60 minutes before earning a deserved rest as she continues to build up her match fitness during a congested fixture schedule.

And it was a return that Jeglertz was pleased with.

“ I’m really happy with Rebecca,” began the Swede.

“She gives us solid defending, she’s communicating, she’s giving us a lot of things, also very good in set play.

“So I’m really happy with her 60 minutes and that was what we started with today and then let’s move from there.”
