But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the result was how exceptional all of City’s substitutions were.
Jeglertz utilised all five changes, the first round seeing Grace Clinton, Iman Beney and Sam Coffey introduced.
Clinton teed up Bunny Shaw to complete the number nine’s hat-trick, Beney got off the mark for the season, scoring City’s fourth of the afternoon and Coffey provided security in the centre of the pitch to help us secure our second WSL clean sheet of 2026/27.
Gracie Prior’s inclusion as an 80th-minute change also helped us shut out West Ham.
But perhaps the most poignant moment of the match was Risa Shimizu’s City debut as the Japan international made her return from injury.
“We said after the game also and we talked about it during the week that we are going to need all players this period when we play a lot of games,” began Jeglertz.
“We also talked about the depth of the team and this shows today also how important that will be.
“We need that. We definitely need all players coming in and getting a touch of what this is about. They [all] had an impact today definitely.”
Jeglertz also provided his thoughts on the overall five-star performance before answering a question on our Player of the Match, Aoba Fujino, who continues to shine for the Blues in any position she is asked to play in.
“I’m very pleased with the performance,” said Jeglertz.
“It was a clean sheet, it was a while ago since we had a clean sheet.
“How we created scoring chances, how we played football, the substitutions coming in and finishing the game off in a great way so there was a lot of things to be happy about after the game.
“She [Fujino] is an amazing football player,” Jeglertz added.
“I’m so happy for her that she got that goal, she has been working hard for that and I think she had two shots hit the post before that also.
“I’m happy for her and she’s bringing so many things to this team.”
