Fowler and Kennedy both played 90 minutes but were powerless to stop the Rio 2016 victors from triumphing at Marseille Stadium.
The first goal came via Marina Hegering who headed home Giulia Gwinn’s cross on 24 minutes.
The score was 1-0 at half-time but there was a quickfire double for Horst Hrubesch’s side on 64 and 68 minutes.
Another Gwinn cross was met by Lea Schuller who produced a clinical header to double the lead and then it was three when Jule Brand despatched a right foot shot into the bottom right corner.
The Germans are currently second in Group B, with the Matildas at the foot. USA are top as they lead Zambia 3-0 in their 20:00 (UK) kick-off at the Allianz Riviera.
There are three sections in Women’s Football at Paris 2024 – Groups A, B and C. The winners and runners-up all make it through to the quarter-finals with the two best third placed teams also progressing though to the last eight. The final takes place on Saturday 10 August.
