Gareth Taylor’s side welcome our cross-city rivals to the Etihad Stadium on Friday 11 December, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 (UK).
Tickets are selling fast for what promises to be an historic encounter, with over 30,000 already expected at the match.
Two of the league’s pre-season favourites for the title, the match is likely to have a huge significance at the top of the WSL table as well as on local bragging rights.
City have won each of our last four in the league, while United’s recent defeat to Chelsea belies a run of form which had seen them win their opening five games without conceding a goal.
But with Gareth Taylor’s side boasting the WSL’s top scorer in the form of Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, the visitors’ defence will be pushed to its absolute limits.
It all points to a thrilling encounter in what will be just the third occasion in which our women’s side have played at the Etihad.
Having first locked horns with Everton back in May 2014, before welcoming United in September 2019.
Caroline Weir proved to be the hero on that occasion, with her wonder strike seeing us run out 1-0 winners in front of what was then a WSL record, and what remains a club record attendance of 31,213 fans.
With the latest encounter taking place this time next month, be sure to get your tickets and be part of another historic occasion.
