The latest edition of our Battle of the Bands competition takes place at Sunday's WSL clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The competition provides supporters at selected home matches with the chance to enjoy some pre-match and half-time music in between the action on the pitch.

Our second band are The Publics, who will be performing live in on our brand new stage area above the players tunnel.

Make sure you have your smart phones at the ready during the break as you, the fans, will be scoring the band out of 100. Just head over to mancity.com/botb.

The winner of our competition (announced on the 5th May 2024) will receive a weeks’ worth of studio time.

WHO ARE THE PUBLICS?

A powerhouse indie rock band from Mansfield, The Publics combine catchy riffs with powerful choruses to create a stadium worthy atmosphere.

In just five months the group (Josh, Elliot, and Ebony) went from playing in a neighbour’s back garden to a high-profile support slot with The Reytons.

‘Young Hearts’ builds on the sound of The Publics’ previous release (Marathon in Heels), combining aspects of 90’s dance and current female Pop vocals with the distinctive indie-rock core.

The single is inspired by a friend of the band appearing on Channel 4’s ‘Teen First Dates’, and recounts the date (which didn’t go very well) with a perspective focusing on both hope and heartbreak.

Destined for a bright 2023, ‘Young Hearts’ aims to propel The Publics into the limelight of the UK Indie Rock scene.

‘Knight in Shining Armour is a top-class indie banger’ – Dean Jackson, BBC Radio Nottingham

‘Mixing Northern gritty indie-pop with a midlands swagger, The Publics are one to watch’ – Rich Goodwin
