The Blues missed out on Europe last season but aim to use that frustration to positive effect.
The league phase kicks off on Tuesday evening (17:45 kick-off UK) with a tough tie away to Bayern Munich, and with both City and Bayern going into the game with 100% domestic records, it promise to be a fascinating encounter.
Greenwood says the team cannot wait to get going and are looking forward to pitting their wits against one of the top teams in the competition.

“We are really excited, we’ve been without Champions League for a year, and it was difficult to watch,” said Greenwood.
“The team is hungry, and excited too. A couple of players are new to this and there are some more experienced players.
“You can’t get carried away, each team presents different qualities and threats, but we will focus on us.
“They have some very good individuals. Players I’ve played with personally and talented players. They play a little similar to us but with some differences as well.

“We’re excited for the challenge and girls are looking forward to it.
“It’s a completely different competition with different challenges. The girls are definitely prepared for that.
“Without the Champions League last year, the girls [were able] to settle into the team, how we play, and that will help us now.
“They are excited, I’m excited for them. I’m really looking forward to it.”
The City captain also says she believes team-mate Lauren Hemp doesn’t get the recognition she deserves outside the Club.
After reaching 200 appearances for the Blues recently, Hemp weighed in with a brace in the 4-2 win over Liverpool last Friday – but Greenwood says Hemp’s achievements often go under the radar of the wider media.
“[She is so] underrated,” said Greenwood.
“She doesn’t get talked about enough. [How she is not] on the Ballon d’Or list is beyond me.
“She just keeps getting better. I don’t know how she does what she does.”
