Beth Mead has become only the ninth player in Barclays Women’s Super League history to reach 200 appearances.

The England international was named in City’s starting line-up ahead of our clash with Liverpool at the Joie Stadium.

It’s Mead’s third appearance for the Blues since her summer move from Arsenal, with the majority of her WSL matches coming during almost a decade at the Gunners.

The forward made 167 WSL appearances for Arsenal, while also turning out 30 times for first club Sunderland.

During that time she’s found the net 72 times, seeing her rank joint-fifth in the all-time rankings, level with Fran Kirby and behind only Nikita Parris, Bunny Shaw, Beth England and Vivianne Miedema.

She ranks top for assists in the all-time charts though, registering 55 so far.

That means that, across her first 199 WSL appearances, she’s registered an incredible 127 goal involvements.

Mead has also started strongly in Manchester, grabbing an assist on her debut as Andrée Jeglertz’s side beat Birmingham City 3-1 in our WSL opener.

Coming off the bench in our 4-1 victory over Aston Villa the following week, she also played a huge role in our final goal when sending Lauren Hemp through on goal, before the winger’s effort deflected into the back of the net.
