It makes the Jamaican international the Club’s highest-ever ranked female player at the prestigious awards ceremony which took place in London on Monday night.
In placing third, she has become the highest ranked Afro-Caribbean player in the award’s history.
Shaw was nominated alongside Alex Greenwood, Kerstin Casparij, Vivianne Miedema and Yui Hasegawa who all placed 26th, 24th, 28th and 11th respectively.
2025/26 was another special season for City’s number nine which was illustrated by her going on to win a third successive WSL Golden Boot to help City win the league title.
Shaw found the back of the net an incredible 21 times. Across all competitions, she tallied 35 goal involvements in 32 games, further demonstrating her prowess and impact.
It shocked no one that in the FA Cup final against Brighton, Shaw got the scoring under way with City going on to win 4-0 and lift a historic second trophy.
Away from her goals, Shaw’s game continued to reach new heights. Her high pressing, ability to hold up the ball and link-up with her teammates was the definition of leading from the front and how she has become the ultimate striker.
And after being named the PFA Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year and WSL Player of the Season, her third-place finish at the Ballon d’Or is the latest incredible individual accolade for Shaw.
“To be named as the third best player by those who voted is a huge honour for me and I’m extremely grateful for the recognition,” said the Jamaican.
“City are a special club and for them to trust me with leading our front-line week in, week out is something I take immense pride in.
“I would like to thank my teammates and the staff for supporting me on and off the pitch so I can perform at my best. Recording a historic double last season was a campaign that will always hold a special place in my heart.
“This recognition would not be possible without them.”
Therese Sjögran, Manchester City Women’s Director of Football added: “Bunny is a remarkable player, and we are thrilled to see her hard work and dedication recognised.
“She is a role model for not only those of us who work closely with her on a day-to-day basis but also for so many young girls and boys around the world.
“This latest award is one of many deserved accolades of what she has achieved at City and we can’t wait to see what further history she continues to create.”
