An impressive come-from-behind win on the road from Man City was aided by a Bunny Shaw brace that ensured we booked our spot in the final of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
City found themselves 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge on the hour mark, and a final at Wembley looked a long way off, but two late goals from Mary Fowler and Bunny Shaw, the latter an incredible acrobatic effort, saw the game head to extra time.
Once Shaw got the taste for goals down in London, she looked the most likely to find the back of the net once again, and that’s exactly what she did to head home beyond Hannah Hampton and secure the win for Andrée Jeglertz’s side.
Shaw, who alongside her teammates celebrated WSL glory midweek, is now focused on completing a domestic double with Wembley on the horizon.
Shaw said: “After winning the league, we wanted to take another step and that’s getting to Wembley to try to win another one.
“It was a very hard game, we stuck together as a team, and we grind, and that’s the result.
“I enjoy my time at Man City, and I always want to do the best that I can to get the club back to where it needs to go. Obviously, we won the league, and now we are one step closer to the FA Cup.”
If City can go one step further in the competition and lift the famous trophy at Wembley, it will be the first time we’ve done so in front of fans since 2019, when we beat West Ham 3-0.
Shaw had a number of chances throughout the game, but saved her two best strikes for when it mattered late on in the semi-final.
After what was a huge week for City as we were crowned WSL champions for the first time in a decade, Shaw’s brace was the icing on the cake to set up what could be a magical few weeks.
“I trust myself, I know what I can do and when the ball popped up, one thing was on my mind, and it was put it on target,” Shaw said when asked about her acrobatic goal in second half stoppage time.

Her second goal was more of a trademark Shaw effort as she, like has happened so often this season, rose above her defender before planting a header into the far corner, and she spoke about her mentality before scoring her second.
“I had one just before that, and I missed it. I was thinking if I get another one, (I will) put it in the back of the net.
“Yui [Hasegawa] did a very good press, she put it in, and I got across the face of the goal and yeah, a really good goal.”
