The FA Women’s Super League’s top two contested a thoroughly entertaining, topsy-turvy six-goal thriller, as both sides came from behind at the Academy Stadium.

The result keeps City top of the table but with a game in hand, the title race has swung in Chelsea’s favour.
Mahon conceded his side were disappointed not to have snatched the win, having netted three goals on home soil, but admitted the clash proved a joy for the neutral and asserted the race is certainly not over.
“It wasn’t good for my heart!” he joked. “It was a good game for the neutral but I obviously would have liked the three points.
“The girls did well but we are a bit disappointed with some of the goals.
“It’s disappointing when you concede three… but we also scored three. We had chances and missed a penalty. It is what it is.
“We showed character to come back from 3-2 down, which I was really pleased with. The players worked incredibly hard.
“They had a chance early doors but when we start playing, I wanted the players to be positive and get the ball speed up.
“It was end-to-end but we had to put the brakes on towards the end. It was enjoyable in parts but the aim now is to look at the next game.
“It was a good test. Chelsea are a top team and knowing how they set up, trying to organise our team for that has been good. It’s been good for me to be a part of it.
“We’ll take the point and move on. It’s in Chelsea’s hands now but there are a lot of games between now and the end of the season. There’ll be twists and turns.
“Each game is important and we don’t want to look too far ahead.”
The manager also provided an update on City and England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck, who was stretchered off with what looked to be an ankle knock in injury time.
“It didn’t look great but we’ve been told it’s not as bad as it looks,” he said.
“We’ll see on Monday. We usually assess after 24 hours.”
Mahon also lauded the impact of youngster Lauren Hemp, who netted the crucial leveller, having also bagged the winner in the 2-1 triumph over Arsenal.
“Lauren has been fantastic,” he declared.
“She’s a top, top talent. I’m delighted for her because she’s worked so hard and nailed down her spot in the team and at international level.
“We’ve got a bit of a break now with internationals. As a manager, you want to keep playing but for the girls, it’s good for them to be able to reflect and come back.”
