Chloe Kelly hailed City’s 2-1 win over Arsenal as a ‘brilliant performance and brilliant day’.

The result helped us leapfrog the Gunners into third in the WSL table, just two points behind leaders Chelsea.

Kelly scored one and made one in the impressive victory at the Academy Stadium.

And she was buzzing as she spoke to the media post-game.

She said: “”It was a brilliant performance and a brilliant day.

“I think we really set the tone with our press today. When we win the ball back, we know the class that we have. We showed that today.”

Her assist for Hemp’s opener was significant, too, as it heralded her team-mate’s 50th goal for the Club.

Kelly was thrilled to be able to do this for a player she has a lot of time for on and off the pitch.

She continued: ““What a girl. What a player. She’s unbelievable for us.

“When you have that link-up with such a special player, it’s brilliant.

“She’s a great player. She’s a great person. And I’m incredibly pleased to share the pitch with her.”

Kelly was named Player of the Match by Sky Sports after her inspired performance – and she put her current red-hot form down to support from Gareth Taylor and support from a wonderful playing group she’s working with day-in and day-out.

She added: “Gaz is giving me confidence. He’s letting me play free and I’m just enjoying myself out on the pitch.

“When I’m enjoying myself, I think that’s when I’m at my best. I’m having fun really, like I’m a little girl again playing football.

“I’m playing with such a great bunch of girls. It’s brilliant.”
